My Story

Hi, my name is Carly Clark, and I own Conquer Accountancy. I qualified as an accounting technician in 2001 and as a chartered accountant in 2006.

My interest in finances and numbers started quite early when I volunteered to run the school bank every week when I was 14. I went on to study Economics and Business studies at A level and at 18, I decided I wanted to join the exciting world of work in the City of London.

I started work at an international bank in the Treasury division and quickly began studying for my first qualification. After 3 years, the Finance Director asked me to follow him in a job move, working in the Finance Department of a stockbrokers.

During my 20 years at the company I passed my chartered accountancy exams and worked my way up to be the manager of the Finance and Reconciliations departments, managing a team of five people, producing accounts for the various companies and gaining lots of experience and knowledge in accountancy and the Financial services world.

In 2012 my son was born and I chose to work part time to ensure that I could spend as much time with my family as possible and in 2020, I wanted to realise my long-held dream of owning my own practice and founded Conquer Accountancy.

Well-Being

I developed an interest in neuroscience and NLP over the years so decided to combine both my loves by helping small business owners in the well-being industry.

In my free time, I enjoy walking our dog when it’s not too muddy and in the summer I love sitting in the sun, watching my son play in his cricket matches. I‘m a bit of a history nerd and love nothing better than reading an ancient Greek myth. If you’re looking for any book recommendations, just let me know!

I have a wealth of all round accounting, finance and tax knowledge. I can do everything from bookkeeping to statutory accounts, tax returns & management accounts. I pride myself on being friendly and approachable and try to make the sometimes daunting world of tax a little bit easier for those who do not deal with HMRC every day.
